AURALAB (The Science of Scent) is an independent fragrance house trading from 195 Wallace Street, Goodwood, Cape Town, South Africa. We are the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at hello@auralabs.co.za or on WhatsApp at +27 657 560 568.

• ·Contact details you give us: name, WhatsApp number, email address and delivery address when you place an order or make an enquiry.
• ·Order information: the fragrances you buy, order value, delivery or pickup choice, payment method and payment status.
• ·Preference information: answers you give in the Find Your Scent quiz and messages you send through our chat or WhatsApp.
• ·Marketing information: your email address and number if you join The Aura Circle newsletter.
• ·Technical information: basic device, browser and usage data collected automatically so the site works and stays secure.

We do not collect or store your card or banking credentials. Payments are made by EFT into our business bank account or through a payment provider, and we only see whether a payment has been received.

• ·To prepare quotes and invoices, process orders and arrange delivery or pickup.
• ·To communicate with you about an order, an enquiry or a fragrance recommendation.
• ·To keep accurate accounting and tax records as required by South African law.
• ·To send newsletters and offers, only where you asked to receive them.
• ·To protect the site against fraud, abuse and technical failure.

We rely on your consent for marketing, on the performance of our contract with you for orders, and on our legal obligations for record keeping.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with parties who help us run the business: couriers and delivery partners (Paxi, The Courier Guy, Uber Courier), our bank and payment provider, our website and database hosting providers, and our professional advisers. These operators must keep your information confidential and may use it only for the service they provide to us.

Some of our service providers may store information outside South Africa. Where that happens we only use providers that apply protection substantially similar to POPIA.

Order and invoice records are kept for at least five years to satisfy tax and company record keeping requirements. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe. Quiz answers and enquiry notes are kept for as long as they remain useful, and are deleted on request.

Customer records are held in an access controlled database with row level security, and only authorised AURALAB staff can view them. We use encrypted connections across the site. No system is perfect, so if a breach affects your information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

You may ask us at any time to confirm what information we hold, to correct or delete it, or to stop sending you marketing. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe option, and you can reply STOP on WhatsApp. Full details of your rights and how to complain are set out in our POPIA Notice.

We use essential cookies and local storage so that your cart, session and preferences work correctly. You can clear or block these in your browser, but parts of the shop may then stop working.
